With every stitch, I observe my hands. They are hands that prepare.
That make better, and that wipe away tears. Hands that correct, that protect. Hands that serve. Hands that create. That praise. Hands that grasp, and also that let go. Hands that give. And that receive. Hands with promise. Hands with purpose.
Hands with life. Hands that love.
I finished the sweet pink sweater for Ivy, designed to go with the first dress I ever bought her (the day we found out we were having a girl). I used the same sweater pattern as always but changed it up a bit in the collar and body length, adding moss stitching for the details.
A small white vintage flower button from my grandmother's button jar makes it even more special and sweet.
I finished Ivy's sweater yesterday and had enough yarn left over to make a little hat... the Children's Cotton Hat from the book Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I had never made such a tiny hat before and was glad I had a small enough circular needle! I can't wait for her to try this on!
Oh, and the button I decided on is one I actually fell in love with at the knitting shop. I have my Gram's large jar of buttons to go through and think her next sweater will include buttons from there.
As I am in waiting, I knit. This sweater (which in person really looks more reddish pink than hot pink) is coming along nicely and all I have to finish is the sleeves!
I also plan to add one button at the top, hoping to choose a special button from a large jar of my Gram's. Thought that might be special...
I finished Gray's sweater today, complete with robot buttons. I am really pleased with it. He is, too. Just last night he asked me if I was building it for him. So sweet.
And now I've started on the baby's sweater, a lovely pink-red softy yarn by Hopscotch. I have high hopes of finishing it before her arrival.
It's been ages since I last started this sweater, but as my baby is due in just a few weeks, I got the itch to knit again and am trying to stick with my rule of not starting a project until I finish the last one.
Sooo, the other day I picked up my needles again and finished the sleeve on this sweater- finally!- and just have to do the next sleeve and add the buttons.
And I already picked up some sweet, soft yarn for the baby's sweater. Then, I think I am retiring this pattern and moving on to bigger and better designs!!
Oh, knitting is saving my sanity. When life seems like one big ball of stress, I find relief in my yarn & needles.
I've decided that this capeletwill go perfectly with a couple different sleeveless dresses I have this spring & summer. And so I'm following this pattern adaptationfor a springier look. I am using size 6 Addi Turbo 24" circulars and did cast on a few extra stitches as recommended. So far I'm loving the yarn (Classic Elite Cotton BamBoo in a yummy yummy green) and I'm loving how this is flowing.
I am still on the lookout for a brooch to pin it all together when I'm done.
Well, in the process of looking for the sweater pattern book (I finally found it today!) and one lone missing size 8 double point that I still haven't found- so I might have to go and get a whole new set!- I did get myself organized and amazed at how much stuff I have! Too many duplicate needles because I didn't have all this sorted out before. And this doesn't even include the needles being used for works in progress right now.
I have the entire top shelf of my hope chest sorted with needles, buttons, accessories, and patterns. The bottom is filled to the brim with yarn.
Just so I don't seem in too much excess, many of these needles were part of a Mama Barter I did a while ago. I've been flower crazy lately. Nothing like a bouquet of needles, too.
I've finally picked up knitting again this week after quite the hiatus. After getting so many presents done and then dealing with horrible morning sickness, I'm back in the game after unraveling the most tangled and crazy nest of yarn- see that perfect little ball now? Took me a couple days off & on to get it looking like that!
I should have this sweater finished for Gray soon- just a bit more on the body and then I'll do the long sleeves. And add my FAVORITE robot buttons!
I just have to find the pattern book to finish this off- it is in my huge hope chest full of my knitting stash... and it's locked! I need hubby to help me break into it!
I just kept knitting and knitting making it longer and longer.I think I just didn't want it to end. But of course I've got another scarf in the works already. And it's not for me.
I'll take a better picture later today- this is the Chevron Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts with Noro Silk Garden & Silk Garden Lite, finished last week. It's yummy!
